Working to an unusually tight schedule, G&A worked with Winvic Construction Ltd to install fire protections and whitewall for two-storey and single-storey offices of the new DPD Swansea site.

Client: DPD Swansea
Main contractor: Winvic
Value: £50,000

A brand new expansion of the already large delivery firm, the new DPD Swansea site occupies eight acres of land just off the M4.

G&A was subcontracted to provide fire protection to the two-storey main office and single-storey ancillary office and install whitewalls and composite panel lids.

Eurobond composite panel walls and ceilings were installed, providing 60 minutes of fire separation between the offices and main warehouse buildings. These were then coated with Jotun 600WF intumescent paint, in turn providing 60 minutes fire protection to both main office and the single storey office.

Steelwork was fire protected to provide 60mins fire protection to whitewall-supporting steelwork and the main office first floor steelwork.

Due to an issue with the supply of the required thickness of panel, G&A sourced panel from elsewhere and used an ad-hoc solution by installing a wall lining to the inside of the wall to achieve the required u-value and weighted sound reduction. On this project, we prided ourselves on the delivery of a straightforward service – in spite of the tight timeframe we were given – to meet our client’s expectations.

Whitewall is just one way we can use passive fire protections, find out more here.
