The Rushden Lakes retail park is a unique development where some of the biggest names in retail worked together with the Wildlife Trust to create a destination that combined nature with shopping.
G&A Group was delighted and proud to play a part in the building of this £140 million site with a range of fire protection work to various retail and restaurant units.
Site manager Mark Atkinson explained:
“A development of the scale of Rushden Lakes meant there was lots of diversity in our workload – but that is something G&A Group excel at. We carried out extensive fire stopping and cavity barriers using Rockwool and Firetherm products to separate the different units inside the retail development, as well as Jotun Steelmaster paint to beams and columns of the buildings.
“On this occasion, we chose to use Jotun Steelmaster with its proven track record in terms of shelf life with atomised spaces.”
The Rushden Lakes development, situated near the A45, provides a 74,000 sq ft. home and garden centre, 340,000 sq ft. of retail units across three terraces, a drive-thru restaurant, lakeside visitor centre and restaurants.
G&A Group were tasked with fire protection work at House of Fraser, Primark and Marks and Spencer’s as well as various restaurant units with work completed in March 2017.
Mark added: “As you would expect with a project of this size, there were challenges and I am very pleased with the outcome. One of the strengths of G&A is that we will always find a way to overcome any obstacles and get the job done. And our client was delighted with the end result.”
